This is a good book. It's about an English girl names Hero who travels alone into Scotland in search of her maternal aunt. She is smart, self-confident, determined. I liked her. She comes across Ciaran MacLoarn who has just returned to Scotland for America to discover that his whole clan has been slaughtered. Actually there are some still alive who escaped the masacre and are living among neighboring clans. Ciaran and Hero fall in love while hiding in a haunted 'church' with another guy who has left his love because he's jealous of her and she won't put up with his jealous behavior. She is not what you think and it's cute side story to the original. Highland Jewel is what I call a sweet love story. It has it's drama, danger, etc but it's still sweet. Enjoy!!
