Not for the faint of heart. Contained characters, none of which I enjoyed getting to know, including, unfortunately, Cody Hoyt. Torture (or planned torture) scenes of a sexual nature were particularly disturbing, and I found the topic overwhelmed any appeal of the plot. Also, Box included derogatory political references (I'll let you read it to find out what side of the aisle he comes down on) that were extraneous to the story, but undoubtedly gave him satisfaction to put into print. I would compare this novel to those under Patterson's name, but not written by Patterson. I kind of wondered who Box gave this to in order to write it--so far afield from the beloved Joe Pickett series. A disappointment.
