Can anyone suggest a good historical fiction book about Hawaii?  I have read both Mitchner's Hawaii and Moloka'i.  Just returned from a trip there and ready to learn more!

I read Kaye Starbird's The Lion in the Lei Shop, a novel about the impact the bombing of Pearl Harbor had on military families. It's quite wonderful.

Perhaps a book about  Hawaii's last queen, such as The Betrayal of Queen Liliuokalani, would interest you.

Thanks, for these suggestions.  Both sound interesting.

Donna,  You also might want to ask this question in the Historical Fiction forum.    There are a lot of active historical fiction readers there.

The author of Molokai wrote another book (not a sequel) called Honolulu.   It was OK, but I found it a little far fetched.

If you don't mind some actual history Around The World With A King by a guy named Armstrong is very interesting. It's even available on kindle. I bought my copy at a museum gift shop while I was in Hawaii many years ago.
