I might have been more invested in this read if I had started with the other four Cooper Justice books. As it was, I didn't know the backstory of the brother's dead wife and the fact that the main characters were already married lessened the romance. I'm usually pretty good about suspending my disbelief, but sex after being shot was a little hard to believe. The evil mentor was an interesting villain but there are more unanswered questions about who he was working for and with. If you like an ongoing story this could be a good choice. If you like all the questions answered within the book pass on this one.
