Is this really as good as they say? I saw a huge early reader set of it today at the thrift store for $20. I almost bought it, but didn't. Anyone use it and like it?

We have not used Hooked on Phonics.  Our son learned to read successfully with PhonicsWorks (available at k12.com).  GREAT program!  We loved it, and I highly recommend it

If you go to www.shopgoodwill.com and enter "phonics", you'll see it on there a lot. Just keep checking back..it's one of their most popular things to post, and you can get it for cheap! :)

I just started using it with all of my kids ages 3-12 and it is helping a lot! I have been able to correct the way they were making their sounds and they have been playing it together. My 6 year old is really learning to read and we use that in conjunction with other phonics materials so that he gets some variety. I got mine for $10 at a resale shop too! What a steal!

I used it to teach 2 of my children to read. I bought it new and paid way more than $20. They love the story books.

I got it at Sam's for 24 or 29 last year for 1st and my son didn't like it so, I've just used the readers.Ginger
