Jody Jaffe presents for the reader's enjoyment a journalist with a penchant for solving mysteries. Infused in the plot is the world of the high show level hunter/jumper word, carefully portrayed with remarkable accuracy. A fast pace, good wordsmithing, and a delightful sense of humor make this book a super read. It was the first of hers I'd read, but it won't be the last.

This was one of a series of three books . I had read one and went looking for the others. Not exciting but kept my interest and gave a closer look at t he sport of horsemanship, and riding shows. The mystery was solid . II enjoyed reading this series for the writing and the content.

I thought this book was pretty good. It is the first in the series. Natalie Gold is a reporter for the Commercial Appeal. When a valuable horse and trainer are killed at the barn she boards her horse at, she decides to investigate. She and Henry Goode, a coworker, get tangled up in a criminal mess, with horses being killed for money and people murdered that get in the way. Natalie herself is threatened and a friend is killed in the process. Natalie is also puzzled by the fact that her friend is scared to show her horse even though the horse is in top form. There are a couple of mysteries contained in the book. All of the loose ends are getting tied up toward the end of the book when everything falls into place and the reader figures out what is going on. I really thought that this was a good book. It is a pretty quick read at 278 pages. I am looking foward to the next book.
