llywelyn seems to get better with each book of hers that i read. 'horse goddess' continues with her theme of strong central characters that break their cultural mold. epona is smart and free-spirited and it's a joy to take the journey alongside of her. it's an especially interesting read if you read if after 'druids', simply because they offer such opposing viewpoints on the druidic lifestyle. the storylines are timeless, and the ending is so powerful...i cannot get enough of this author.

Unusual subject matter of tribes in the Sea of Grass as well as the Celts. Lots of exciting and tender moments as culture meets culture. A heroine to cheer for in Epona.

A good novel for Celtic fans and horse lovers alike. This book takes you though ancient Europe on horseback. The tale is similar to Clan of the Cavebear but set in prehistoric Ireland. Full of the history and myths of the country. This is the story of Epona, a strong willed Irish girl who is gifted with animals. Epona is a member of the Kelti tribe. The Keltis built permanent houses in the steppes, they farmed and worked in caves mining salt to trade with other tribes. When a mounted band of roving Scythian warriors stop to trade with the Keltis, Epona is fascinated by the horses they ride. A twist of fate finds Epona riding with these warriors back to their migrant bands of people who live in the fertile grasslands. There is mystery and Celtic myths along with the vivid descriptions of early prehistoric times in Ireland. And there is always Epona and her horses!
