I just signed up for paper back swap but I have a question as to how many books I can post at one time.  I posted my first nine but wandered if I may post more.  Also how long will my books be posted if they are not swaped?  Is there a time limit ?? Thanks

I think as long as your account is current they can stay on your shelf forever.  I don't think there's a limit to how many you can have on your shelf either.  But I don't think you can have multiples of the same book at the same time.  I have over 60bks on my shelf and I've seen shelves w/over 300 books.

Some folks have 500, 600, 700 and more on their shelf.  Post them all.  If you post it, they will come.  ha ha

Your books stay on your shelf until someone orders them, or you take them off.

Welcome!

I have over 500 posted with no problems - post whatever you want to get rid of - at some point, someone will go, "Wow, that's just what I've been looking for!"

I have 650 on my shelf including 1-2 that have been on there since my first month in September '05---about a month or so ago somebody ordered the one remaining one that was there since the very first batch I listed, so be patient.  In the past some of us with large shelves, some of which have been on there a long time, offered 4 for 1 on books listed over a year---I got rid of quite a few that way.

I think you can list only about 15-17 (?) at a time on the "list multiple books" area, but you can use it again if you have really a lot to list.  I know beause I did that with a bunch I got from a garage sale once.

Welcome!!  You could check out my shelf if you're interested in mysteries, fantasy /SF---I have lots of those there.  Anyway, enjoy it heree---I do.  It's addicting.

Post all you want.  Actually I don't know for sure, but I have seen people with 500 or more posted.

I have around 100 books and have posted 15 or so at a time. I think it gets confusing if your shelf is too large....but that is me.

I just checked your shelf and you have a good start.....keept it up!

You can post as many as you want whenever you want, just can't post 2 of the same book.

If you do have 2 copies of one book though, post one-when that gets requested you can then post the second one.

I usually have anywhere from 200-300 or so on my shelf of all varieties for preschoolers, younger teens, adults...I go to our Sal. Army, yard sales, and library sales to keep my shelf as varied as possible.  When my acc't is not on hold, I usually get about 3-7 requests a week.  Hunting for books is the most fun...!

Usually during Jan., a new year, I will go through my bookshelf and take off some that have been on there a while.  True, they can get requested at any time, but, for me, I like to get rid of what I call "deadwood".  I plan on having a big yard sale next summer so the books I take off my bookshelf will go there.  That's just what I do, though, everyone is different.

I've had over 2000 books posted; don't think there is a hard limit.  However, a number of members have commented that they don't like to look through shelves that have more than a few hundred books on them (not sure why they don't just look at  the first 200 books and stop, but that is what they say).  This is probably more of a consideration with BOB trades than credit ones, where I think most requests are not directly from your shelf...

You can post multiple books from a file of ISBNs, I don't think there is a limit there either - I've posted files of a few hundred books at a time.

Please post more books! As others have said, you can't post more than one of an ISBN, but other than that....

I would recommend that you only post, say, 20 at one time. You will probably get several orders as you post more, and you can get overwhelmed filling them, not to mention the postage. Give yourself a chance to get in the swing, you'll enjoy it more!

Welcome to PBS!

I'm sure there's no limit, but when Bret had over 2,000, he was only the second largest account. I don't think there are any that large now, but there are at least 3 with more than 1,000 books. Mine was just over, but I've sent a bunch and dropped down, for now :)

When I encounter someone with a really large shelf I just use the search feature on the right to reduce it to just the genre I want.  That's a really handy tool.

Hey - for all those people who don't want to look through huge bookshelves - try resorting the bookshelf!  This is great if you've ordered one book from someone and want to check their bookshelf for another  by the same author, or in the same genre, etc.   You can resort someone else's bookshelf the same way you resort your bookshelf.  My eyes start to glaze over when scrolling through page after page of books, so it's easier to resort and check for a specific book, author, etc.
