I am a therapist going through a separation with my husband, and have not found many "self-help" type of books that say much of anything new. This book really stands far and above any other I have read. The information is well researched and covers the variety of emotions and behaviors associated with divorce, separation or issues with parents or family. I thought this was an excellent book - if there would be one book I would recommend to people trying to cope with the intensity and profound grief/anger of relevant situations, it would be this book. The author understands that there is no single answer for every person, and helps you to formulate your own way of working through your feelings.
