Topic: How long does Methotrexate to work? Newly diagnosed R.A.

I just got diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I'm on my second week of Methotrexate with no relief or result. Fortunately, I have no bad reaction to it. The doc wants me to try it for four weeks. I've done some reading and for my type of RA the Arthritis Foundation recommends aggressive to prevent damage. I'm wondering if I should call my doctor and try to make an earlier appointment than one month. Does anyone know how long it takes for Methotrexate to work? I don't want to sit here doing nothing if there is something more that can be done earlier.
