Ok, so I got a request for a book that was wishlisted and the person has certain conditions, which is fine. I wanted to send a PM to the person because I am not sure if my book will meet their conditions. But there is nowhere where it says PM. Should I just deny it? I would have liked to PM the person though, I even scanned the book to show the person the condition the book is in. |

You cannot PM a requester until you accept. I would accept it and then PM them to make sure. If they don't want it, cancel the request so they don't lose their place in line. If it's a wishlist book, wait a week and repost it so it doesn't go right back to them. |

Allie's idea is a really good one. I wish that others would do this, but almost nobody does! |

That is a good idea. I do that also. I also re-state my conditions in my profile so that after someone has accepted, they can look there in case they need a reminder. |

I already had my name in my conditions, but it is a good idea to also put them in your profile. I hadn't done that yet, good idea as well! I'm off to change my profile now... |

Heather, if you're in doubt, just mark "Does not meet conditions" and move on. If you feel the requestor's conditions are ambiguous, you might state that in your response so that the person can alter the conditions. But making it a habit of sending a PM every time you're not quite sure is just not feasible. What if the person doesn't respond? Now what? If you cancel the order on a posted book, you'll lose your place in FIFO. If you post it again and its a WL book, it'll go back to the same person. Plus, there's still a chance that the person might accept your description and then decide it doesn't match your description when it's received. I'd decline the request and move on to the next person. |

Whenever I have felt that conditions are ambiguous at best I pm the requestor. I hate cancelling WL books just because I am not sure of the wording. I always PM and ask the requestor and I don't think any of them have said don't send it. Most say send it and I've never had them recieve it and not get my credit. Just be honest about the condition of the book and if they don't get back to you within a day cancel it for not meeting their conditons. I haven't gotten so many requests with conditions that a pm is gonna take that much time. |

You can actually go to the transaction archive and PM the requester through there. I had to do this earlier this week, due to very ambiguous conditions. |

Thanks everyone for the advice. I ended up taking a picture of the book, and she decided she did not want it. In the future I think I would probably just decline. |

Britney - you can only PM from the transaction archives IF:
Your active transactions do not appear in the Transaction Archive. They appear in My Account, in the Books I Requested, Books to be Mailed, Books I've Mailed or En Route to Me sub-tabs: click My Account in the toolbar at the top of the site, and scroll down if necessary to see these tabs. So It still IS NOT possible to PM someone unless you accept OR decline their request for the book. |

probably a good call....I know the only condition I have is that it not come from a current smoking household. I know people don't know the history of the book, I'm just concerned about where it is now. |
