hmmm, just be patient. I only have 3 books on my shelf, and they been sitting there a little while. I want them to go as well, but oh well, I'm in the process of reading more, so its not a huge concern for me. I wish they'd go too, so I could get rid of them. LOL.

I haven't been here that long myself, but there are a few things that might help. If you are running a deal, run the details at the bottom of your forum signature. To do that, go to My Account---> Settings--->Forum Setting--->Signature, type in the information, and click Update Forum Signature. The information will then appear at the bottom of every post you submit.

Also, utilize the genre specific forums. Most of them have a thread in which you can post your deals and mention some of the authors you have on your shelf who write in that genre. Many of the forums also have threads in which individuals name which books they're looking for, such as "Is this on your bookshelf?" If you see some requests you can fill, message the person and let them know. It also doesn't hurt to search the appropriate forum by an author's name to see if anyone has mentioned looking for a specific book.

Finally, it pays to make yourself visible. While you are in the forums, if you see a question you can answer or a request for book/author recommendations in a genre you're familiar with, take a moment to answer. I know I've checked the bookshelves of posters simply because their responses suggested that they had the same taste in books as me and I don't doubt that others do too.

Good luck! :)

Redwingsgal ... that's a good suggestion.  I' m fairly new.  When I first joined, it did didn't get any orders for quite a while.  Then I started visiting the forums .. and started to get some orders.  I also posted on this formum asking people to look...it worked.  I received several orders.  I always look at the bookshelves of the posts that I read.  So, like you say, it does help to be visible.

Renee,

You've got a very good mix of books, so just keep your shelf in this forum and keep promoting it. There are so many books available through PBS that getting one shelf noticed above all the others takes time and patience. Add new books as you are able, I get a lot from thrift stores, flea markets and yard sales, even books that I'm not interested in reading myself, because I know there are other people who do like different genres. All the above suggestions are very good so use what appeals to you.  I have used the suggestion of going through the Book Bazaar forum to see who's looking for books that I have on my shelf and then PMing them and letting them know what I've got. I've had several orders that way. Check the wishlisted books and if you get a chance to add a few to your shelf, you're sure to get orders. Good luck and just be patient. The orders will come.

I always have a 3 for 1 or 5 for 2 deal on my paperbacks and 2 for 1 on hardbacks for those members who aren't Boxers. I love Boxer swaps, too!!

Smoke-free home with 2 cats. They don't read much, but they do like to sniff the books and climb on the piles for a little nap. I mail promptly and use lots of tape!!

Just finished reading: The Cereal Murders by Diane Mott Davidson, Dirty Blonde by Lisa Scottoline, Tell No One by Harlan Coben & Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigiani

Currently reading: Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson

Also, I believe you can bump your post in here once each day to make sure people can still see it.
