I grew up with the Berenstain bears showing me how to act and what to feel. I thought this was an awesome idea, using them to teach. Unfortunately the most educational thing about the whole book is the title. The drawings were 1970's cute, but there was ZERO substance. The whole book says you should teach about sex but never tells you "How" as promised by the title. The most prevalant theme is that sex makes people "FREAK OUT!!!" [their emphasis] It does briefly ennumerate various methods not to use but never says what you should do. It actually mentions taking them to a museum with nude sculptures and a zoo with frisky animals "in the hope that junior will be able to put one and one together and get three." And you could take them to a neighbor to see a diaper changed on a baby of the opposite gender to teach them the facts, but little girls will feel "the sense of loss, the sense of deprivation, of injustice! when they fully realize the blow nature has dealt them."

And the closest they actually come to "how" is three pages from the end: "Well, son...buzz-buzz...pregnant, right now....buzz-buzz...sperm...buzz-buzz...testicles...buzz-buzz...penis...buzz-buzz-buzz...vagina...buzz-buzz...ovum...buzz-buzz...fetus...buzz-buzz...nine months...buzz-buzz...delivery...buzz-buzz-buzz...and that's it!"
No...I did not add the "buzz-buzz"...that is a direct quote.

So sad. Save your credit. Go buy a real book. This is a terrible disappointment.
