A beautiful, desperate lady who needs a sham fiance; a devilishly charming rakehell in need of a temporary hideout.
Funny, hilarious, especially the heroine's mother.

The Talisman Ring Series features Sara's five brothers from 'The SEDUCTION OF SARA'
... Thus, each book in The Talisman Ring Series starts with one brother getting the ring ...
... Legend says that whomever possesses the St. John talisman ring will find their one true love ...
This book was just fun. The third in the Talisman Ring series, the story follows Chase St. John as he flees London for good (or so he thinks). He's spent several months convinced that he killed a woman in a drunk driving incident, and an acquaintance of the unsavory sort is determined to continue to benefit from this situation.
On his way out of the country, he falls into the lives of the very unique Ward Family. They need to produce a 'real' fake finace for oldest daughter Harriet in order to hold off the bank, and since they think that Chase has lost his memory, Mother Ward decides that he fits the bill. Much hijinks and sheep shearing and falling in love ensues. The whole plot is wrapped up rather quickly at the end, but I guess it had to happen somehow. And of course there are appearances by big brothers Anthony and Marcus as they come to save the day, and younger brother Devon discovers that he is the next St. John fated to fall victim to the Talisman Ring.
THIS IS MY FIRST TIME READING A BOOK BY KAREN HAWKINS; I WAS IMPRESSED! A VERY GOOD READ!
So loved this book! A fun series and a great story.
A Fine Romance. Fast paced!
Harriet's family is in trouble so she invents a fiance. Now creditors want proof of the man's existence. She finds a man who she thinks he doesn't know who he is, but he does and plays along because he is hiding himself.
As always another great story by Karen Hawkins. This is book 3 in the Talisman Ring series. I especially like that Ms Hawkins always has a heroine who is strong, sassy and willing to stick up for herself and Harriet is such a woman. Not for one moment will she back down from the banker threatening to take away her home or from the man she finds wounded in the woods. Chase St John has fun going along with the charade being played out by the Ward family for the benefit of the bank and the community. Soon he is wrapped up in the affairs of the family but always thinking about the shame he brought to his family.
Ms Hawkins always includes humor and a small amount of mystery in the her stories and this was no exception. Plus she always has a colorful minor character - Mama Ward is nothing if not eccentric and blessed with a wonderful imagination.
Another delightful St. John tale.
Great regency historical romance by Hawkins.
As always, Hawkins writes a great story.
Does she dare?
To save her family from ruin, Harriet Ward invented a fiancéâa handsome, wealthy sea captain. But now the bank wants proof of the elusive captain's existence. Just as Harriet despairs, fate drops a mysterious stranger into her arms, a man she believes has no idea of his own identity...Does Harriet dare convince the disturbingly handsome stranger that he is her fiancé? And if she does, what will be the cost?
Will he win?
Chase St. John knows exactly who he is. While quitting London to protect his family from scandal, Chase is waylaid by footpads and left for dead. Awakening in the care of the enchanting Miss Harriet Ward, Chase is astonished when the tempting maid brazenly announces that he is her long-awaited betrothed. Chase, ever a rogue, decides to dally and play the part of adoring lover for a priceâheated kisses and more. But the price is rich, indeed, when it might mean losing his own heart.
