Simply send in feedback using the Contact Us link and the feedback button at the bottom of the page. Put Member  of the Month in the subject line, it will help them sort the PM immediately. You can give reasons if you like, but it's not necessary for the nomination. And votes are accumulative, so you vote this month, and others vote another month, and so on, and they all add up until such month that they have the most votes of anyone that is accumulating votes. That's it.

Ppl used to ask what's my name.  I would say it's Dan.  But I had a southern accent.  So they called me Stan.

(and i am from mississippi, live in louisiana- somehow the accent missed me and i have a generic southern accent. when my uncles showed up at my fathers funeral- i had to pinch several of my friends to keep them from laughing out loud! ever seen "o brother"? i know you have! know the radio guy? yep- thats my uncles..... and to think none of my friends believed me when that movie came out- yes- that is an accurate mississippi accent- yes indeed

From Houma Louisiana, 80 miles southwest of New Orleans, left as a teenager, had to get rid of the accent because whatever conversation was started it ended with wherd didja get that Cajun accent.  Actually it wasn't Houma, it was Bayou Black.  But Houma was the closest town.  When I visit the south my accent mysterious return after conversation and a couple of drinks.

same for hub- he is from central- outside of baton rouge. when he gets tired or angry (or even excited) his accent really shows up!

i went to see my bro graduate from Macalester College in st paul minnesota- he does not have much of an accent so i think i really floored his friends one night... we all went out to eat and i had a few drinks. at the end of the meal the waitress comes over and asks if we want any "peecan pie".... my brain spent no less than 45 seconds trying to figure out what the heck she was talking about!?! just as my brother notices me (and realizes what is about to happen) he sees he is too far to clamp his hand down on my mouth- i state VERY loudly "huney- you mean PAHKHAN... a peecan is a chamber pot. and we will NOT be having any of that!" my poor bro turned as red as a beet- his friends just burst out laughing!!! he was soooo embarassed- but all the minnesoootans could not get enough of my accent (which i consider to be very mild)

dont you just love it how people underestimate you when you "speak southern"? and they have no idea about what some things really mean?

"bless her heart"- she is either stupid or crazy- her behavior is noted and possibly excused by the phrase "bless her heart"

"well i never..."- people who say this have- alot! this is in general a response to hearing the phrase "bless her heart" connected to them

i have a friend from ohio who just basks in the way people speak to him... poor thing, bless his heart. they are really trashing his yankee manners. i did some translations for him one time- he asked that i not do it again... he had rather liked being blessed and such!

oh- and the time i took my louisiana born sons to a family reunion in mississippi. they were hiding under a table when i found them. they asked "momma how come these people talk so funny?" i responded "i bet they think the same about us!"
