This is an short but interesting 'history' of Abraham Lincoln, told though the reciting of his humor. As we know, Lincoln had a great sense of humor and often told humorous stories to make a point. Unfortunately, some of his biographers have added to his stories without first making sure he actually told them. This author also makes some of those errors. Still, it is an entertaining book.
I believe my favorite quote has Lincoln writing a review of a book by stating, "For people who like this kind of book, this is the kind of book they will like." Did he actually state this? I don't know, but I enjoyed it anyway.
I've read numerous books on Lincoln, and know enough to often know when an author repeats a dubious tale. Still, this is to be expected when a man, like Lincoln, is so vastly admired, respected and, yes, even loved.
The author also makes some interesting mistakes. Just one example, he has Lincoln visiting General Sherman in Georgia in 1864. Never happened.
