If you think Michael Grant couldn't get better than GONE, the first novel in this six-part series, think again and again and again! HUNGER completely blows the first book out of the water in terms of action, suspense, horror, and intrigue. It includes all the positives of GONE--the multicharacter points of view, the supernatural, the killer kids with superpowers--and adds more exciting components.

One of my favorite aspects of the GONE books is their ability to weave an engaging story from multiple characters' points of view. This allows readers to understand everyone's motivations and faults, passions and lapses in judgment, for an ultimately more believable and enjoyable reading experience. Of course, the GONE series would not be such a success were it not for its elaborate and utterly fascinating plot. It is clear from every chapter that a lot of thought and preparation has gone into this series. Fans of Harry Potter and TV shows like "Lost" will be able to enjoy GONE and HUNGER's complexity, subplots, supernatural elements, and budding romances. Basically, this series has everything, and each book's 500+ pages will pass by in an all-too-fast flash that will leave your palms sweating, your heart racing, and your mind hungering for more from this talented author.

Having not read the first book in the series, GONE, I was thoroughly intrigued about this book.

HUNGER takes place three months after the events of the previous story. The kids are running out of food, gaining powers, and a Darkness is calling to some of the members of The FAYZ.

I enjoyed this story so much that after I read it I promptly ordered the first book. I am eagerly awaiting its arrival so that I can see how this all started.

I thought the story flowed very well, was well-written, and the characters pulled me in from beginning to end. I literally had trouble putting the book down once I started reading.

HUNGER can stand alone, but you'll probably want to read the first title in the series, like me, either before or after finishing this one.

Book #2 in the Gone series by Michael Grant. This book is set 3 months after the previous installment, Gone, when the kids have run out of food and have resorted to farming and hunting. This book was better written than the first and the author adeptly managed at least four different, entwined plotlines deftly. I enjoyed reading this and look forward to "Lies," book #3.

Could not read this book. It's strange because I loved the first Gone book, but but this one bothered me. Too many graphic visuals for me!
