I have a hardback book titled Aladdin that I'm trying to post. When I enter the ISBN # it comes up as a paperback. Should I use that to post or should I post without an ISBN? When I went to post without the ISBN should I skip the author? There isn't an author on this book, just a publisher. Thanks for any help.

Post it without an ISBN. By PBS rules, you cannot post the hardcover as a paperback. (Now, feel free to check around for the way it's posted on other book sites. If you think it's an error in the listing, reference your sources and report it with "Edit Book Data".)

If you're sure it's the same book (just hardcover version), copy and paste the same information from the other window when posting non-ISBN. (Author, title, description.) Makes it much easier.

Please do not submit this as a edit book data correction. The data correctors cannot change the book type. If you feel that the book is listed in error then send feed to R&R. they are the only ones that can make they change. Thanks

The only way R&R will change the book is if

1) there are no listings on any of the other Internet databases with the wrong binding. IE: that ISBN and PB.  If any of the others, such as biblio, alibris, abebooks, amazon, etc, have it listed as a PB they will not change it.

2) there are no other books listed with that ISBN on PBS. Imagine the members that have correctly listed their PBs with that ISBN and they change it to a HC?!?!

Publishers re-use ISBNs all the time, sometimes for more than just the PB & HC, they sometimes also use it for the audio and even for other books! Nothing we can do about it, but only one book gets to use that ISBN, all the rest must be listed as if they do not have an ISBN.

All of this is available in the Help Center and more!

I checked at Amazon and it's listed there as a paperback, so I guess I'll just post it with no ISBN. Thanks for the help.

No problem, Susan, There are many, many books out there sharing ISBNs so you are not alone ;)
