This is an excellent book about relationships of all sorts. It explores characters' actions and reactions. It can be difficult at times, but is well worth reading.

One the things I love about Alice Hoffman's books is her ability to take such unrelated characters and weave them into a completely logical, believable story. The other is her ability to tell such a GOOD story - it's all about the language. This book satisfies me on those two levels, but I didn't like the ending. It left me wanting more, and not in a great way. But it has left me haunted by the characters and location. Overall I liked the book, but was disappointed by the ending.

A good story, with some odd twists

I thought Alice Hoffman tried to invest in too many characters for such a short novel. I felt as if I was acquainted with them but did not have a chance to really know any of them. I was disapointed in this book.

Another great Hoffman book. I don't think she is capable of writing a bad line.
