This book was interesting to me as I had seen the 48 Hours episode on this case and wanted to learn more, which I certainly did. I found the characters unique and interesting, but the author integrated her own personal experiences into this book, and I felt that took away from the book. A good true crime overall.

This book was gripping for the most part. When the author started comparing her own life to those of the people she interviewed, however, I felt it crossed the line between an objective report and a memoir. The ending was also very anti-climatic.

The story was interesting, but left me wondering. It is puzzling to the reader as to the motive for the murder as well as whether there was actually spousal abuse involved & if so, which spouse was the perpetrator. The author spends quite a few pages with commentary about herself & her relationship to this story which took away from the story, in my opinion. The author's personal comments could have been put in a forward or an epilogue of the story.
