One of the most exquisite descriptions of aging and the special love and frustration of caring for a wife and world renown novelist and philosopher who is slowly losing all comprehension due to Alzheimers. John Bayley speaks eloquently of his oneness in her vulnerability with his dear Iris. The film, Iris, with Judi Dench and Kate Winslet was a wonderful accompaniment to reading this volume. A must read for all who have come to accept the inevitability of our own aging.
