I absolutely *love* Georges Simenon. His novels are very simple, yet captivating and hard to put down. This book kept me guessing until the last few pages and ended quite abruptly, though it wasn't entirely shocking. I was hoping for the story to take a more complex turn at the end, but Etienne's psychological journey was fulfilling enough. Simenon's books are just so enjoyable that I can't resist picking them up. :)
