English author Lillian Beckwith lived for many years in the Hebrides, really getting to know and love her neighbors. Her books are based on these experiences. In An Island Apart Hebridean born Kirsty Maclennan marries in order to get out of the city and back to her island. Her life is not easy, but it is interesting and draws the reader right into it.
