Classic H.G. Wells, if you haven't read this book do so now!

This is one of my all time favorite stories. It was reading this story that got me into biology and science as a youth. Splicing human and animal DNA seemed to be a good goal to a 12 year old. Of course that didn't happen and I went on to study art instead of biology, but this is still one of my favorite books

Spine-tingling and terrifying! Don't let that Brando movie version waste your time - this book is much more scary and thrilling.

Prendrick, a survivor of a shipwreck, is picked up by a schooner bound for Noble's Isle. On the island, Prendrick encounters the Beast People, roughly human but with animalistic traits. It turns out that Dr. Moreau, a scientist who came to the island years before, has been developing animals into humans with the help of his assistant Montgomery.

What a great book! I feel much more connection with this writer of 100 years ago than any of today. He weaves so much politics, ethics, and science into his writing (I suppose that's what all science fiction writers try to do).
