This book is incredibly well written! The story flows nicely and really draws you in. The characters are all believable and the heroes are likable but clearly not perfect. And the amount of historical detail is fantastic! With the great writing and the detailed style, I really see the Aztec world and I can clearly imagine what it is like when the were-jaguars change forms. Clare Bell does get a bit graphic when she describes the sacrifices and the transformations, but it just adds to the charm. I cannot possibly recommend this novel highly enough! I wish I could give it a hundred stars instead of just five!

A fantasy novel with new twists on shapechanging, set in the Aztec city Tenochitlan in the pre-Columbian era.
