A magnificent historical novel of the momentous events that unfold in the days after the British departure from Jerusalem, on May 14, 1948, when they hand over the key to Zion Gate and depart. They will leave Jewish and Muslim forces that have been fighting for months over control of a holy city they are all willing to die for. Good reading.

I read this series a few years ago, and am now ordering them for my personal collection. The entire series provides amazing insite into the Jewish people - their most recent history. It is well written, historically accurate, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I do not recommend as bed time reading if you want to go to sleep. Excellent. A must read.

Jerusalem Vigil is the first novel in a planned Zion Legacy series that will chronicle three millennia of Jerusalem's history. Authors Bodie and Brock Thoene, whose Zion Chronicles and Zion Covenant Series have sold more than 6 million copies, write with the suspenseful flair of Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye, and convey the historical knowledge of authors like James Michener and Herman Wouk. Jerusalem Vigil unfolds over a period of five days during the British withdrawal from Jerusalem in 1948. Its Jewish, Christian, and Arab characters (including Holocaust survivors, British military officials, and Arab insurgents) find themselves drawn into a mysterious and violent tangle of events that can only be understood in reference to ancient prophesies, particularly those of the book of Isaiah. The historical detail of this book is impressively deep, and its use of Scripture is always clever and surprising.

Book one in the "Legacy" series. Exciting, fast-moving action. Recommend reading the "Zion Chronicles" series first, as this series picks up where the "Chronicles" leaves off. Has me hooked; I'm still working on collecting the 4th & 5th book in this series.

Zion Legacy Series #1:
"It is early afternoon on May 14,1948, in the world's most sacred city.Six months have passed since the United Nations voted for the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine and the territory was divided into 2 nations, one Arab & one Jewish. Finally the day has come when the new State of Isreal is to be proclaimed.Tension is high,as this is also the day when British troops will ceremonially hand over the key to Zion Gate and depart. They will leave Jewish and Muslim forces that have been fighting for months over control of a holy city they all are willing to die for. Has the battle only just begun?"

The book is exciting & will have you checking your mailbox everyday for the sequel! If you love Jerusalem, Jewish history and seeing the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy, you'll enjoy this novel.
