This was so good.  It's the kind of story you just keep thinking about after you're done reading.  I looked up the author's websites and she has pictures of her and David growing up.  What a great memoir!  What are your thoughts, for those of you who have read it?

I'm glad you liked it, Jenny.  It's in my huge TBR.  Maybe I'll move it higher up the list.  Thanks for the review.

I read it and really liked it.  It was one I checked out of the library, knowing nothing about it and not really knowing what to expect.  It keeps your interest throughout but I must say it was sad and disturbing.

I really liked it.  It's one of those "point of no return books"   - after you get so far, you just stay up unil you finish it.

In the same thread as  The Glass Castle

I also liked it very much. It was certainly a disturbing story, but one that stuck with me for a long time afterward.

I haven't read it yet, but I am planning to.

Just an FYI, this book is available used on amazon.com for less than three dollars(not including shipping). Those of you who are impatient could get a copy fairly cheaply  there.

It broke my heart, literally.  This book stayed with me for so long, and affected me greatly.  It made me sick, made me hate humanity.  What people will do in the name of religion is unfathomable.    It's probably one of the most difficult books to get through that I have ever read, but I couldn't stop.

It's definitely crazy and heartbreaking, and if you in any way can relate to it in a personal way, it would be difficult. But it's a good book!!

Thanks, Megan. :)  It's a really good book, but it literally made me heart sick.  I can't, in good conscience, call those people "parents".
