The information on the beginnings of unions was very interesting. Unions gained traction with workers because businesses had a large pool of workers and fewer jobs than workers. After the experience of the Great Depression, workers were always looking over their shoulders, fearing that their jobs would disappear. What I didn't know was how much violence was involved in the early union movement.Â
After giving the details of Hoffa's disappearance, I was pleased to note that possible theories -- real and weird -- were shared with the reader. Having read, "I Heard You Paint Houses," by Charles Brandt, I was glad the authors evaluated this Hoffa theory. I found that book to be very likely and plausible. The authors of this book mentioned the pros and cons related to that story.Â

The entire Hoffa saga was stretched out over so many years that readers will probably appreciate having the story told in one compact reading. I thought reading this book was well worth my time.
