I want to give Jodi Picoult another chance. I have read about two of her books and didn't like them. When I read reviews here of her other books, people often say "not her best". Well, what is her best? If I were to try one more book which one should I try, before I give up on her? Thanks! |

If you search these boards you will find many of these same discussions and lots of good answers to your question about this author. My favorite by her is one of her least popular here at PBS. It is Mercy. I found all of her other books to follow a formula except the Songs of the Humpback Whale. SOTHW is my second favorite, but I wouldn't call it a great novel. Just my second favorite by Picoult. |

I really liked My Sister's Keeper - the unexpected ending was one of those love or hate it things! I know many who hated it and many who loved it. Harvesting the Heart was another I liked a lot - made me think about "what if" which is what Picoult wants you to do. She takes moral dilemmas and difficult situations and looks at them from different character's point of views. For me, sometimes it is highly engaging and sometimes it seems a little too conrived. Vanishing Acts and Picture Perfect fell in that last category for me. |

She is one of my favorite authors. I think her best books are: Change of Heart, Perfect Match, 19 Minutes, Handle with Care, and Keeping Faith. These were so thought-provoking for me and I couldn't put the book down. I also found myself thinking about these books long after I had read them. I would say The Pact, Plain Truth, or Nineteen Minutes. All the books of hers I have read are courtroom dramas, which may turn off some readers. I know many, many people who love My Sister's Keeper as well. Let us know if you decide to read one more and what you think about it! |

My Sister's Keeper was my favorite(hated the ending though :( ) until I finished Sing You Home just this morning. IMO, it is her best work so far and it has a happy ending. Ya gotta read it!!! |

I've only read one of hers, House Rules, which was ok, but would like to try more. My daughter has just decided she might take up reading again now that she has finished with college, and her first book was by Jodi, The Pact. She liked it. Thank goodness!! I guess I want her to enjoy reading as much as I do for some reason. She was undecided about which one she wanted to try next. Any suggestions for which one might appeal to a 24 year old? |
