I just picked up "Heart Shaped Box" by Joe Hill at Border's yesterday due to the massive wait here on paper back swap. But I was wondering, who has read his work and what do you have to say about it? I am thinking about reading it after the book I am on now and I'd like to know what to expect. Thanks!

I  enjoyed "Heart-Shaped Box", he does an excellent job of creating complete characters, it's a satisfyingly creepy tale, not a whole lot of gore, but it messes with your mind. I like those kind ;).

Thanks Aimee for the input. Those are the kind I like, too. Stories that mess with your head and make you think. ;)

I agree with Aimee, it was a good book. Very well written, better than some better known authors. Just my opinion.

I got it when it first came out and really enjoyed it.   Looking forward to reading more of his work, but I"m afraid I'm going to have to invest another bookcase to hold all the books coming out the King household.  *g*

Haha yeah... I ended up reading it in a couple days and I really enjoyed it. Quite thourougly. I hadn't read his previous "20th century ghosts" but I wished listed it here and am looking forward to it when I do.
I gotta say, if he keeps writing like that, he will be one of my favorites in no time! :)

I thought I'd have to wait a long time to get any version of heart shaped box, but last week, I noticed a different version appear with a different isbn and jumped on the wishlist.  A few days ago, I received notice that it was available already.  I should be receiving it soon!

I finished recently also and found it refreshing...he takes after his father.  I thought it was very well written with a plot that was surprising in it's difference.  I have ordered his next..it is a book of shorts called 2oth century ghosts.  Can't wait to get it.

I'm a big fan of his, I'm really looking forward to hearing his short horror stories on audio. Heart-Shaped Box was REALLY creepy and one of the best modern ghost stories- heck just one of the best period!- I've ever read.

I'm actually in the near end of 20th century ghosts right now.
It's awesome. I think my favorite story was POP ART. :)

I just started reading Heart Shaped Box and I'm liking it already.

I'm curious, who is Joe Hill's father that was mentioned?

As another King fan, I also enjoyed Heart Shaped Box and have 20 Century Ghosts on my wishlist now.

I just read Heart Shaped Box and really enjoyed it.  It was one of the best ghost stories I've ever read, although I did kind of guess the ending in advance.  What is 20th Century Ghosts about? Is it an anthology?  oh well, wishlisting it anyhow.

I just finished Heart Shaped Box and REALLY liked it!!! I wasn't as crazy about 20th Century Ghosts as a whole  but there were a few short stories in it I really liked.

PS Publishing, the company who originally released 20th century ghosts have announced a new Hill novella.  There was a signed and limited one that was @$95 (Which I'm told has sold out), and there is the unlimited trade edition for $22.50.  I'm not sure that you can get these from Amazon, but you should be able to get them from genre sellers like horror-mall or camelot.
