What a monster disappointment. Nearly 1000 pages long for poor reasons. The influence Galbraith had on American economics is never fully conveyed. The book is more about Keynes and his disciples and how they influenced a seismic shift in American (and global) economic philosophy of the role of government. I gave up at page 350 b/c the book seemed to be a treatise on Harvard academic politics and other philosophers. I'd rather read a book about Keynes so as not to have it diluted by the lesser significance of others. Maybe after page 350 Galbraith's influence is demonstrated, but it was so hard just to get to 350. Extremely dry and just not interesting. Disappointing b/c I'm sure a better storyteller could have demonstrated to me why Galbraith was so important.
