Excellent book, well written,Life of Sargent from childhood. Family history is accurately told and travels of family in France, Italy. It shows how Sargent develops into an curious, free thinking artists and talks about his friends:Henry James, Mary Cassat, Degas, and how art was sold and gained value in those days. You will recognize famous people he painted. Has colored plates of his art both portraits and landscapes.
