poem with 1st line taken from In the 80’s We Did the Wop by Major Jackson

Who mothered your love of death?
Death for others, that is
Anyway, let’s stop blaming mothers
It was you yourself, you are the culprit
Did you think you could live forever,
If only some other group walked on the edge
So you could always feel safe?
Did you think that only you are entitled to feel safe?
Here we all are, on this improbable planet for a short time
Can we possibly all share the risks
So we can all share what joy there is?
