This book could have slipped by me, because I had never heard of it. However, I literally could not put it down. The writing and descriptions are so atmospheric, I actually felt I was there. In the middle of a Chicago summer, I could sense the cold of a winter spent in solitude in the Maine woods. This really should be getting more attention, I found that I continued to ponder the story and main character for days after finishing the book. It seemed to provoke me in certain ways.
