Well, with all the yo-yo-ing, I'm 241.4 today which is 1.1 lbs. less than last Sunday. At least it's a loss but I'm back in the 240's AGAIN! I'm beginning to think I'll never get out of them and stay out. But I'm still trying.

Well, currently I'm thrilled to be in the 240s! 246.6 today.

254 last Sunday. I know most of it is water I was holding because I lowered sodium, so this will slow down sometime. This week I will try again on the same three goals, except extend the third walk to 10 minutes.

priority goals for this month:

Did great last week: 1) Get back to watching the sodium! Keep track! Doing this automatically cuts out a lot of calories for me, so I made this the goal. I'm trying for 1200 mg per day average. If I stay under 1000, great, if I get to 1500, that's ok occasionally.

Didn't do this: 2) Do the RespErate every day.

Did the two walks. When I did the third, it was always at least 10 minutes, so moving from 5 to 10 minutes won't be hard. 3) keep with the walking goal. I'm going to jump in the program at 2 walks of at least 10 minutes and 1 walk of at least 5 minutes. I was supposed to add the third walk earlier, but instead I got the two walks from 5 up to 10 last week. For week starting June 8, 3 walks of at least 10 minutes.

Saw the new doctor today and I really like her. She's prescribed a muscle relaxer for my calf but not quinine, so it shouldn't do me like that one I was taking in Lancaster did me years ago. I was allergic to quinine. She also gave me the referral I needed for me to get a needed colonoscopy. She called in refills on all my prescriptions, and she wants me to come back the end of July to see how my knee and calf are doing. And I have access to her medical assistant if I need to call the office for any reason. This doctor is all about the patient, which means a lot. She sat and talked with me a good 20 minutes. I think I'm going to really like going to her.

Yeah, it is. I glanced at the other doctor, a male one and I'm really glad I got the woman. On looks alone, I don't think I would have liked the male doctor. He just didn't give me the right vibes, if you know what I mean.

Todays weigh in= 239.7

At 205 today. I put the last 4 boxes of Lorna Doone cookies in the bag going to the food pantry. I cannot stay out of them. I keep plugging on. I feel very depressed lately. I may have to avoid watching the national news for awhile. Do I stay informed or do I save my emotional health?? I need about a week of dry weather before I can do any painting on the deck. I may not be able to paint until August!  My grill fell apart the other day. I hope there are some good sales in July!

Sorry you had to do that Teri. I know it's not easy. Better out of the house though if you want to stay away from temptation. I'm having to learn that too.

Maybe you could find a good used grill at a yard sale, or check in market place on facebook, for your area.

Grills don't last long these days so I'll buy a new one on my Home Depot card. I'll buy some things used but not a grill. I'm not in a hurry. I hope there will be 4th of July sales.

I rescheduled a July eye appointment. She's booking out to October! Unbelievable! Not in a hurry there either.

Good on the grill. Glad you got the July appt. and didn't have to wait til Oct. My eye doctor keeps calling me wanting me to schedule an appt. I'll do that after I get the appt. done with the gastro doctor for my colonoscopy. No telling when that will be scheduled.

Todays weight- 240.5

Sorry, I was unclear...I did have an appointment in July but couldn't get in again until October.  My fault for being unclear.

On the bright side, I discovered that my bathroom scales somehow got moved. I moved it back and voila I'm 2 pounds lighter today! LOL! So I'm claiming 204.5 this morning.

I'm not due for a colonoscopy until 2028. That's creeping up on me! I have a mammogram coming up this month.

Which of the flavored tea mixes do you like best, peach or lemon?  I sometimes buy the bottles of lemon black tea, sweetened, but I nurse it for awhile.

Oh, sorry I misunderstood. Maybe they'll get a cancelation and call you in early.

Isn't it strange how moving a scale just slightly can change a weigh in?

I prefer the lemon tea but like the peach too.

I'm sticking at 205. I took a couple bags of donations to the food pantry yesterday.  My cookie stash went with it! Now I have to be firm and not bring any more cookies into the house.

Don't know how I let a week pass!

priority goals for this month:

1) Get back to watching the sodium! Keep track! Doing this automatically cuts out a lot of calories for me, so I made this the goal. I'm trying for 1200 mg per day average. If I stay under 1000, great, if I get to 1500, that's ok occasionally.

  • first week of June, did great
  • second week of June, kept cheating a bit and not always writing everything down, but better than before June. Will refocus.

2) Do the RespErate every day.

  • first week of June, didn't do this
  • second week of June, didn't do this

3) keep with the walking program goals

  • first week of June, goal was 2 walks of at least 10 minutes and 1 walk of at least 5 minutes. Did the two walks. When I did the third, it was always at least 10 minutes, so moving from 5 to 10 minutes won't be hard.
  • second week of June, goal was 3 walks of at least 10 minutes. Still doing mostly two walks, one day I think I only managed one.
  • third week of June, goal is 1 walk of at least 15 minutes and 2 walks of at least 10 minutes.

So today I took my first walk already. I wanted to see where a sidewalk went. I saw it from my car the other day. It took me 15 minutes to walk to where I saw it and walk to the end of it. It went nowhere, but it ended very close to where a new road is being constructed, so I hope it will connect eventually. Part of the problem is that our air quality is down because of ash from the Canadian wildfires, so a few times I tried a walk, and had to cough so hard I peed a bit. So I ordered some of the absorbent underwear, and I tried my first pair yesterday. No coughing, so I haven't tested them for that use, but I am relieved to know that I did choose the correct size.

im so glad you like your doctor, Vicki. I notice mine didn't change. I like her ok, but I had to see a different one when my regular one was out, and I liked her so much. I thought I had them switch me to her, but I guess not.

Teri, I decided to change my June appointment with the ophthalmologist for getting a new prescription. I thought it made sense to wait until after my blepharoplasty which is scheduled for late October. The first available option was January!

weight was a little up today, 248.8, but at least still under 250!

I keep going back and forth on this one: Do I stay informed or do I save my emotional health?? I feel guilty for not being an informed citizen if I don't keep up a little, and then depressed if I follow too much of the news.

I'm 238.6 this morning so slowly still going in the right direction. With what groceries I have right now, I'd have to really over do the eating to get too much sodium. I have nothing in the apt. to snack on other than mandarin oranges and I'm eating 3 a day of those ( they're small). I've started making quiche a couple times a week using different canned greens and different proteins and so far they've been all good. It's filling but with a lot less calories than I normally would be having. I'm not getting in a lot of walking because I'm still having some issues with my left knee/calf and the doctor has me on muscle relaxers. They help but I don't want to undo the good by over doing the walking. I figure the walk to the mailbox and back is enough to push it, using my cane to help stay steady.

Margaret, missed hearing from you. You're doing what you can and that's all you can do. You're making progress. That's what counts.

Good for you Teri, doing what you need to do to stay on track. And others can enjoy what you donated. A win-win.

But have done one walk. Very hot. Also a shortcut I use was blocked off for construction.

i could not eat all those mandarins, Vicki, since citrus can trigger my rosacea.

Margaret, normally I don't eat oranges because they're messy, but the cuties aren't that way so it gives me a little something sweet that's good for me too. But I can understand your reason for not eating them.

Margaret, 20 years ago, I had a lot of trouble with rosacea. At that time, stress, estrogen and grease, like greasy pizza, triggered my face to break out in rosacea. Getting past menopause (for me) improved several physical issues. I still have to take special care with the skin on my face if I don't want to look like a teen but its not like before.

Still working on giving a darn. Yesterday I didn't watch much national and world news and I felt better for it. Its too depressing to try and take in the conflicts everywhere and at home. Plus I wonder if the Fathers Day holiday affected me.

Teri, I watch very little news other than the weather. Too depressing and nothing I can do about any of it anyway. Maybe that's like sticking my head in the sand; I don't know. But I believe it's better for my emotional health. And that's just as important as physical health, if not more so. I think emotions determine a lot of what we're able to do day to day, so anything that keeps us in a calmer, happier frame of mind can only be healthier, IMHO.

245.2, scale going in the correct direction!

Teri, I think it is very likely that Father's Day was part of the problem.

For years after my husband left me I would get grumpy/weepy at certain times of the year, even if consciously I wasn't aware it was my Anniversary.
