I really tried to enjoy these two books, but had to force myself to finish them. All the right paranormal elements are there - vampires, werewolves, elves, etc. but I never really connected with the characters. The female human leads are supposed to have access to supernatural powers, but came across as inexperienced and kind of wimpy. I'd rather read Charlaine Harris, Patricia Briggs, LL Foster, or Jim or Shannon Butcher.
