Death comes for a shoemaker. When Death tells him that he's come for his soul, the shoemaker notices that Death is barefoot. He measures him for sandals and tells him to come back in a month.

Over the years, the shoemaker makes Death boots and other shoes. After many shoes, Death finally tells the shoemaker that he's come for his soul. The shoemaker tells him that he's given him plenty of soles. Death laughs and promises to come get the shoemaker when his shoes have worn out.

Why I recommend it: Death is drawn in a not-scary way. A being in a black cloak with a white face. The story is clever.
