The choppy style of the narrative takes away from what might otherwise be an interesting glimpse of history against turbulent times. The author writes merely with facts, not feeling, which greatly diminishes one of the most romantic stories & greatest sacrifices in British history.
However, if nothing else "The King and Mrs. Simpson" will inspire one to read more about the woman that captured the heart of a king.
