I read this book both before and after I was lucky enough to spend some time in the British Isles. It was a great way to think about places to see and a wonderful reminder of the fun we had.

Maybe not as inetresting as Happy Isles of Oceania or The Grea Railway Bazaar, but great nonetheless.

Well, I'll say this about Paul Theroux, he doesn't look for the silver lining that doesn't exist. Sort of a gloomy look at Great Britain. It could use a good map.
He sticks to the coastline, takes a lot of trains, he seems to love trains in all of his books.
