THE MEETING IN THE NINE ACRES. I Slept well for all my adventures, and rose betimes in the morning. I dressed myself with much care, being resolved to leave the world, if need be, in a becoming fashion. He bowed low to me as I rose to greet him, then casting his hat and cane to the floor, he threw himself into a chair.
