Captain William Hawksmoor inherits the Kingscastle estate unexpectedly. He sees setting it to rights as he saw his naval career: a matter of duty, and there is much to set right, including the treatment of his aunt's companion Eleanor.
Best regency I've read in a long time. Simply written, yet not dumbed down or in some arch faux regency style. All the little details of title and position seem to jibe. No page filler sex scenes; just nice people living in a definite time and place according to its standards and doing the best they can -- plus one supremely spoiled bitchy aunt for spice. Highly recommended.
