Kristin Harmel (born May 4) is an American novelist. Born in Newton, Massachusetts which is a suburb of Boston, Harmel gained her first writing experience at the age of 16 as a sports reporter for the St. Petersburg Times, which ranks as one of the nation's top 10 newspapers, and Tampa Bay AllSports magazine while still attending Northeast High School in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Valedictorian of her high school class, Harmel graduated summa cum laude from the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. Since that time, she has been a reporter for PEOPLE magazine. Her work has appeared in dozens of other publications, including Men's Health, Glamour, YM, Teen People, People en Espaņol, Runner's World, American Baby, Every Day With Rachel Ray, and more.
She is the author of the novels How to Sleep With a Movie Star and The Blonde Theory, which were released in February 2006 and February 2007 respectively by Warner Books. Her first teen novel, When You Wish, will be released by Random House/Delacorte in early February 2008, and two weeks later Grand Central Publishing (the new name of Warner Books) will release her fourth novel, The Art of French Kissing.
Kristin also appears regularly on The Daily Buzz television program, where, as the "Lit Chick", she reviews books of the chick lit genre.
