"Lead... for God's Sake" by Todd Gongwer, published by Tyndale House Publishers

"Lead... for God's Sake a Parable for Finding the Heart of Leadership" is the newest book by Gongwer released in late 2010. This book is a modern parable of leadership. The basic story line involves a high school basketball coach, very successful CEO and the high school janitor, quite an unlikely trio. While at first glance it appears the CEO has the real scoop on leadership, as his company is incredibly successful. But as we read on, it is the school janitor who is changing the world through his quiet leadership style.

This book reminded me of "Facing the Giants" the popular movie of a couple of years ago, and in some ways the timeless principles are the same. Leadership comes from motivating the heart and God is the only true leader worth following. This book has some references to God's leading and purpose in our lives, but not enough to offend non-christian readers.

"Lead...for God's Sake!" is easy to read and would be a great gift especially for any man who enjoys sports especially basketball. It is written in a style of classic leadership books, but without the 1,2,3 steps to success. Would be a great graduation gift too.
