This is a 'stylish' novel of 'manners,' focusing on the moneyed Establishment. The story centers on a pretentious and ambitious woman who manipulates her way up the social ladder. Filled with interesting comments on literature and art...though this is not great liturature, but an interesting study on human motivation. If you enjoy reading Judith Krantz novels, you will like this as well.
