The love is gone---I can say it happened after the 3rd description of a cave, the 25th time someone described noticing Ayla's accent, the 15th time someone sang all or part of the the Mother's song, the 55th time someone went through a formal introduction.
Most of all it died with the glaringly obvious plot hole of Ayla being so sensitive to other people, especially Jondalar, but missed his having an affair that everyone else knew about.
