I don't have that book, but I do have Lonesome Dove. The movies off this book were phenominal, in my opinion, especially Return to Lonesome Dove. :) |

I have to confess that I am not a big western fan but "Lonesome Dove" is one of my all time favorite novels. As far as craft goes, this book is nearly perfect. I love it. I have also found myself migrating toward mystery novels that are set in the west. I started reading Tony Hillerman shortly after I read "Lonesome Dove" and more recently I have discovered C.J. Box and Craig Johnson, both of whom write mysteries set in Wyoming. I recommend both authors if you are not familiar.

Am in the process of watching the last miniseries made in the Lonesome Dove saga. Tonight 1-16-08 is the last installment of Comanche Moon. Don't think its as good as the book. Think Steve Zahn is doing a really good Gus McCrea though. Really reminds me of Robert Duval. |
