wow....what a great set of books. didn't expect the ending that happened, but wonderful & sad & happy nonetheless.

The Last Battle is the conclusion to the adventure in the magical world of Narnia... There is a false Aslan roaming around causing trouble for all the animals...making the whole way of life upset. Jill and Eustace are needed to find the real Aslan and help make everything right in the world of Narnia.

Frustrating but great book- culmination of the Narnia series.
The wonderful conclusion to a wonderful fantasy series. Not just for children, this - I reread it and enjoyed it greatly not too long ago.

My nine year old summed it up pretty well. "I'm sad to be reading the last chapter of the last book of Narnia." We very much enjoyed this series. I like the theological questions it raises and my son enjoys the story.

Now that I have finished reading this book I really just don't know what to say about it. It was so hard to get into in the first 100 pages until the children showed up... and then after that... meh.
I didn't enjoy this as much as the others. I thought that the LAST BATTLE would be full of war, or at least a BIG battle like in the Chronicles of Narnia where at least ALL the animals and men got to fight for their freedom. But this book with was just the Prince, Eustace, Jill, a unicorn, and a stupid donkey that could do anything for himself. I was disappointed to say the least.
And the End?! what was up with that? Such a lame ending to a wonderful series of books. I think I'm just going to strike the last 2 books out of Existence and just be happy with the story ending at the end of Dawn Treader.

I agree completely Narnia will just go on and it's all okay.

This book was about as bad as The Horse and His Boy. It took me forever to get through it. About halfway through, I just started skimming through a lot of the paragraphs. Out of the seven books in this series, I liked all but these two.
This actually is my least favorite. The Narnians make an attempt at a fight after they've already been invaded, are slaughtered, and Aslan shuts the whole thing down.
But why does he end the world? Narnia has been under the rule of invaders at least twice before. Why at this point? If there had been no false Aslan and no invasion, was it still doomed? Doesn't seem like the place is very old.
Despite all the above, I loved this series when I was little and I still do, despite the fact that it took me until my teens to realize it was a Christian allegory. (we weren't a religious family). It's the fantasy world I love, not the lion. So at the end I feel sad, for in this Narnia heaven there won't be much growth, and on Earth there will be mourning for all those killed in the train accident.
