Historical fiction about oil negotiations in the Middle East, Iran, and the Iranian Revolution that felt especially relevant with the recent news in June 2025. I had never heard about the 2,500-year celebration of the Persian Empire that happened in 1971.
It took me 150+ pages to get into the story as I didn't connect with the characters and their backstories, but I enjoyed the second half of the book much better.
