Excerpt: Limerick Lane When It Comes to that form of facetious jingle called "limericks," the editor of this compendium votes with the "I-can- take-'em-or-leave-'em" contingent. Limericks made their first appearance in England about .182o, were popularized a quarter of a century later by Edward Lear, and have flourished since, for the most part in college comic magazines, advertising contests and salesmen's conventions.
