I love her books and all the cozy books. I didnt know if I would like one on a an animal other than a dog or cat but she has pets and this was a very good mystery. I like her sense of humor too. The people in her books seem more down to earth and real

The main character is a veterinary, who falls into murder/mysteries, who happens to be better at solving them than the police! If you are an animal lover, who also loves murder/mysteries, her books won't dissappoint you.

Ok normally I hate reading books out of order but I had to read this one now, just too cute. Plop yourself down and rear up for a good fast moving cozy. Jessie gets herself tangled with the polo set in this installment of a Reigning Cats and Dogs mystery. Good whodunit but didn't resolve the whole Nick issue though. 3rd in the series.

Reigning cats and dogs series. Murder gallops after veterinarian Jessie Popper when an emergency call sends her traveling to a posh Long Island estate with her one eyed Dalmation Lou, and her tailless Wesie, Max. A prized Arab steed needs minor medical care, but its the rider who grabs her atention. The handsome young horseman exudes plenty of animal magnetism as her canters across the filed and then takes an inexplicable, fatal fall.

From Publishers Weekly: An early morning call brings Jessica Popper, D.V.M., to Heatherfield, an exclusive Long Island estate, in Baxter's cleverly constructed mystery chock-full of dysfunctional characters all hiding motives for murder. While tending to the sprained tendon of one of Andrew MacKinnon's prized horses, Jessie admires a breathtakingly skilled and handsome polo player practicing off in the distance. But by the time she's helped the horse back to health, the polo player, Eduardo Garcia, has been poisoned to death. Jessie can't get the image of the talented Argentine horseman out of her mind, and despite her humble roots, manages to ingratiate herself into MacKinnon's world and gain entrée to Heatherfield's many polo soirees and events. In a series of unlikely, though amusing, social maneuvers, Jessie gets to know everyone from Callie, MacKinnon's overweight and surly daughter, to Inez, the observant Puerto Rican maid, in an effort to solve the crime. Baxter (Putting on the Dog) relies at times on clunky dialogue to plug in needed details about the intricacies of polo, but this isn't likely to stop readersand particularly pet loversfrom savoring this delightful cozy. I wasn't too impressed by this story, it seemed rather fanciful to me.

3rd book in the reigning Cats & Dogs mystery series by Cynthia baxter. Enjoyable, cozy mystery. Jessica becomes involved in the high society polo circle as she investigates a murder and as always, ends up in serious danger herself.
